Gluten Free Caramelized Apple Cake @ Mani's

Jennie, a devoted Gluten Freeway LA reader, just sent me a few pictures that made me very jealous. I had to control myself and resist the impulse to leave the library because I have my last exam on Thursday, but I wanted to share these pictures with you all:

This is a caramelized apple cake slice from Mani's on Fairfax. I was introduced to this cake by my roommate, Vanessa, and loved it. Truthfully I'm not much of an apple guy, but I still enjoyed this cake. The only caveat is that it is a bit expensive ($6). It's the price us Celiacs have to pay for delicious freshly baked cake. Treat yourself to it every once in awhile (even if that means every other day...)!

I've blogged about Mani's on Fairfax before (check out my previous post here) and my love for the place. It's a little diner right by The Grove that serves up delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Best of all, they have great gluten free baked goods and mark the items on their menu Gluten Free/Vegan/Vegetarian!

Whenever I've been to Mani's the staff has been very helpful in accommodating any of my special requests. They also have a great special running right now according to the restaurant's blog. Show up before 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and all breakfast items are only $9! Want a good burger? Only $9 after 5pm Sunday thru Friday! Of course, ask them to hold the bun and tell them of your gluten sensitivity/intolerance/allergy (whatever your particular case may be).
